Located in Harris, Michigan and serving as the anchor of the Upper Peninsula’s Perfect 4-Some package, the Island Resort and Casino offers 36 holes of championship golf across its Sage Run Golf Club and Sweetgrass Golf Club.
Sweetgrass, featuring a parkland layout and a celebration of the Hannahville Indian Community with hole names inspired by traditional Potawatomi clans, villages, allies, medicines, and symbols, was recognized in 2021 as the Michigan Golf Course of the Year and in 2022 as the Jemsek National Course of the Year. The course also hosts the LGPA Epson Tour Island Resort Championship, welcoming spectators, volunteers, sponsors, and 156 players from across the globe for the 12th time in June.
Designed by Paul Albanese, Sage Run is a prairie links style course that offers a different style and layout than its sister course. Featuring timbers, open vistas, strategic bunkering fescue grasses, and a natural drumlin, Sage Run has also been ranked among the nation’s best new courses.
Both courses are included in the Perfect 4-Some package, which also includes the Upper Peninsula destinations of Greywalls course and Timberstone® Golf Course in Iron Mountain, Michigan. The packages are designed to accommodate a variety of group sizes and are offered in three- and four-night lodging options with four rounds of golf.
The Island Resort and Casino also features a 454-room hotel with a number of amenities for golf and gaming guests. Families can enjoy Splash Island, while Drift Spa lends a quiet elegance of relaxation for others. Featuring nature-based treatments, Float Therapy, and a number of other offerings, Drift Space embraces traditions of Native American healers and is dedicated to renewal in mind, body, and spirit.
Entertainment at the resort includes Club Four One, offering local and national acts throughout the calendar year, and Bonkerz Comedy Club, where comedians take over September through May every Sunday or Thursday night. The Island Showroom hosts nationally recognized acts with upcoming shows
like 38 Special and Three Days Grace, which have already sold out. Dining amenities also include 5 Bridges Bar, Horizons Steakhouse, Firekeeper’s Restaurant, T. McC’s Sports Bar, and Reef Pizza.
Gaming at the resort has evolved and grown through the years.
