Other than their natural beauty and, often, unique golf opportunities, many Michigan resorts boast year-round activities that reflect the best of the Great Lakes State’s seasonal fun. In Harrison, Michigan—north of the central Michigan destination of Mt. Pleasant—Snow Snake Ski & Golf not only offers zip lines and 18-hole golf course in the warmer months, but also snowshoeing trails, snow tubing, and ski and snowboarding opportunities in the winter.
“Snow Snake is the place to go for family fun for all seasons. In the summer we have the 18-hole golf course, the 10-zip zipline, and Rocks and Valleys: an off-road park for four-wheel drive vehicles and side-by-sides. In the winter, we have our ski hill and the tubing hill. We have been fine-tuning our guest experience for the past 64 years as a family-run business,” said Jann Cleary, whose family has owned the ski and golf property for several decades.
Golf at Snow Snake is picturesque, with manicured, tree-lined fairways providing an enjoyable challenge among slight elevation changes and their prospective valleys, hills, and small ponds, according to Cleary. For those beginning the game or just looking to practice off-course, the resort offers a practice range and putting green. This summer, guests at Snow Snake can enjoy many public golf outings, one of which, a couple’s scramble, is a popular event due to its nine-hole shotgun start that begins at 6:00 p.m. ET and then followed by a dinner, prizes, and live music.
Though the golf is a highlight at Snow Snake, Cleary finds a personal favorite in the resort’s network of ziplines, which comprise more than 4,000 feet and soar through the property’s deep valleys and tree canopies at up to 30 miles per hour.
“There aren’t any zip lines in our area, so it is fun to offer something different and exciting. It has 10 different lines of varying speeds, lengths, and heights carved out of our natural landscape here. It keeps things exciting,” Cleary said.
While in the area, visitors can find more multi-seasonal fun at the Soaring Eagle Waterpark and Hotel, which boasts a 45,000-square-foot water park, arcade, and restaurant, as well as a hot tub and hotel pool.
