In its entirety, Black Lake Golf Club offers the qualities for a full and satisfying golf outing: lodging—and campsites—as well as dining, a diverse practice area, and two courses that serve a variety of players of all age groups. The 18-hole, championship-caliber, golf course designed by Rees Jones is carved into a wooded expanse and utilizes existing natural material like cranberry logs, natural foliage, and a sand quarry to form a charming, environmentally conscious design. Flexible tee boxes with an array of set placements create playable yardages for a variety of golfers as well.
Complementing the championship course is The Little Course, a nine-hole, par-3 designed for introductions to the game and to sharpen existing short game strategy. A practice area with a 350-yard, double-sided, bentgrass tee range, and four practice bunkers, chipping, and putting greens offer space to sharpen any kind of play, while the clubhouse, dining room, and lounge offer a relaxing reprieve after a round. The course property is also home to an adjoined UAW Education Center that has been open since 1969.
“The facility there adds over 200 guest accommodations and sits right on the shores of Black Lake. Plus, we have a 51-site campground, full sized gym, and indoor pool; lots of the kinds of amenities you like to find up north,” Aune said.
